Before you can use Managed Experience Builder, you must link your subscription to an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

Each Managed Experience Builder subscription can be linked to a single ArcGIS portal.

### Before You Begin

Ensure that you know the URL of your ArcGIS portal.

Examples include:

#### ArcGIS Online

```
https://myorg.maps.arcgis.com
```

#### ArcGIS Enterprise

```
https://gis.acme.com/portal
```

If you are unsure of your portal URL, refer to:

[How to find your ArcGIS Portal URL](https://bgt-innovation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WC/pages/4256202754)

### Step 1 – Open Your Extensions

Sign in to your Cartinuum account and open the **My Extensions** page.

Locate your **Managed Experience Builder for ArcGIS** subscription.

If the subscription has not yet been linked to an ArcGIS portal, the **Register** button will be displayed.

Enter the URL of your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

Examples:

```
https://myorg.maps.arcgis.com
```

```
https://gis.acme.com/portal
```

Select **Continue**.

### Step 3 – Portal Verification

Managed Experience Builder will verify that:

- The portal is reachable
- The portal is a valid ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise deployment
- The subscription has not already been linked to another portal

Once verification is complete, the portal will be associated with your subscription.

### What Happens Next?

After registration is complete:

- The subscription becomes associated with your ArcGIS portal
- Builder sessions will use this portal for authentication
- Applications created within Managed Experience Builder will be stored in this portal
- Custom widgets and deployed applications will be associated with this environment

You only need to perform this registration once.

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### Can I link multiple portals to a subscription?

No. Each Managed Experience Builder subscription can only be associated with a single ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portal at a time.

#### Can I change the portal later?

Yes. If you need to move your subscription to a different portal, [please contact Cartinuum Support](https://bgt-innovation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WC/pages/4538695688). Our team can assist with updating the portal registration.

#### Does the portal need to be publicly accessible?

No. There is no server-to-server communication required from Managed Experience Builder to your ArcGIS portal.

Managed Experience Builder supports both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise deployments. The user’s browser needs to be able to access your ArcGIS portal for access to maps and services.

#### What happens if I enter the wrong portal URL?

Portal registration will fail if the URL cannot be validated as an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Verify the URL and try again.
