Once your builder session is running, you can launch Experience Builder and begin creating applications.

Most users only need to complete a simple sign-in process. However, the first person accessing a newly provisioned Managed Experience Builder environment must perform a one-time setup to configure Experience Builder access.

### Before You Begin

Ensure that:

- Your ArcGIS portal has been registered with Managed Experience Builder.
- A builder session is running.
- You have permission to create and edit Experience Builder applications within your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

If you have not yet started a builder session, see:

[Start a Builder Session](https://bgt-innovation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WC/pages/4538204198)

### Launch Experience Builder

Open the Managed Experience Builder control page and ensure your builder session is running.

Select **Launch**.

Experience Builder will open in a new browser tab.

### Sign In

When Experience Builder opens, you will be prompted to sign in using your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise account.

For most users, the Portal URL will already be available in the portal selection list.

Select your portal and choose **Sign in**.

You will then be redirected to your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise sign-in page.

After successful authentication, Experience Builder will load and you can begin creating or editing applications.

### First-Time Environment Setup

> 📝 The first time Experience Builder is used within a newly provisioned Managed Experience Builder environment, an administrator must configure an ArcGIS Application Client ID.
> 📝
> 📝 **This is a one-time setup process.**
> 📝
> 📝 Once configured, the Portal URL and Client ID are available to all authorised users of the environment.
> 📝
> 📝 We recommend creating a dedicated ArcGIS Application specifically for Managed Experience Builder. This makes future administration easier and avoids affecting other applications if OAuth settings are changed.

#### Step 1 – Create an ArcGIS Application

Create an ArcGIS Application within your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise environment and obtain the application's Client ID.

[Create an ArcGIS Application](https://bgt-innovation.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WC/pages/4538073143)

#### Step 2 – Enter the Client ID

On the Experience Builder sign-in page:

1. Select or enter your Portal URL.
2. Enter the Client ID for the ArcGIS Application you created.
3. Select **Sign in**.

#### Step 3 – Authenticate with ArcGIS

You will be redirected to your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise sign-in page.

After successful authentication, Experience Builder will open.

The Portal URL and Client ID are then stored for future use within the Managed Experience Builder environment.

Future users can simply select the portal and sign in without needing to know the Client ID.

### What's Next?

You are now signed in to Experience Builder and ready to start building applications.

### Troubleshooting

#### I cannot see my portal in the dropdown list

Ensure that:

- The portal has been registered with your Managed Experience Builder subscription.
- A portal administrator has completed the initial Experience Builder setup.

#### I do not know the Client ID

Only the first administrator performing the initial setup should need the Client ID.

If your environment has already been configured, select the portal from the dropdown list and sign in. If this is a new environment, contact your ArcGIS administrator.

#### Sign In button is disabled

Verify that:

- A Portal URL has been selected.
- A valid Client ID has been entered (for first-time setup).
- Your builder session is running.
