Managed Experience Builder is a fully managed platform for building and deploying ArcGIS Experience Builder applications.

It combines a hosted Experience Builder authoring environment with managed hosting for deployed applications, allowing organisations to build, customise, and publish ArcGIS applications without managing servers or infrastructure.

### **Why Managed Experience Builder?**

ArcGIS Experience Builder is a powerful platform for creating web applications, but many organisations face challenges when trying to deploy it in production environments.

Common challenges include:

- Finding and maintaining infrastructure to run Experience Builder.
- Supporting custom widgets in ArcGIS Online.
- Accessing newer Experience Builder releases when running older ArcGIS Enterprise versions.
- Hosting applications on organisation-branded domains.
- Managing security, backups, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

Managed Experience Builder removes these challenges by providing a fully managed environment operated by Cartinuum.

### **Key Benefits**

#### **Custom Widgets for ArcGIS Online**

ArcGIS Online does not support custom Experience Builder widgets natively.

Managed Experience Builder allows you to use:

- Organisation-developed widgets
- Third-party widgets
- Cartinuum widgets

This enables you to extend Experience Builder with capabilities that are not available in the standard ArcGIS Online environment.

#### **Use the Latest Experience Builder Versions**

Managed Experience Builder can provide access to newer Experience Builder releases regardless of the version of ArcGIS Enterprise deployed within your organisation.

This allows organisations to take advantage of the latest Experience Builder features and enhancements without waiting for ArcGIS Enterprise upgrades.

#### **Custom Domains**

Publish applications using your own organisation’s domain name.

Examples include:

- `experiences.acme.com`
- `maps.acme.com`
- `engage.acme.com`

This provides a professional, branded experience for your users while Cartinuum manages the underlying hosting infrastructure and SSL certificates.

#### **No Infrastructure Required**

Cartinuum manages the platform infrastructure, including:

- Builder environments
- Application hosting
- Monitoring and alerting
- Backups and recovery
- Security updates
- Platform maintenance

Your team can focus on building applications rather than managing servers.

### **How Managed Experience Builder Works**

Managed Experience Builder consists of two main components:

#### **Application Builder**

The Application Builder is a hosted Experience Builder environment used by application authors.

When you start a builder session, a dedicated environment is prepared containing:

- Your applications
- Installed custom widgets
- Tenant-specific configuration

You can then build and modify Experience Builder applications using the standard Experience Builder authoring experience.

#### **Deployed Applications**

When you deploy an application, a snapshot of the application is published to the Managed Experience Builder hosting platform.

Deployed applications:

- Run independently of the builder environment
- Are available 24 hours a day
- Are delivered through a global content delivery network (CDN)
- Can be accessed using standard or custom domains

This separation ensures that end-user applications remain available even when no builder sessions are running.

### **Typical Workflow**

Most customers follow a simple workflow:

1. Start a builder session.
2. Sign in with your ArcGIS account.
3. Create or update an Experience Builder application.
4. Test your changes.
5. Deploy the application.
6. Share the deployed application with end users.
